At Allcost's core, there is a commitment to innovate with purpose. We believe that true transformation arises when creativity aligns with responsibility — and the textile industry is precisely at this turning point. Sustainability, innovation, and circularity have ceased to be trends and have become the pillars of a more conscious and competitive future.

The Rise of be@t – Bioeconomy in the Textile Industry

This is the context in which be@t – Bioeconomy in the Textile Industry emerges, a national project that is driving the use of renewable biological resources and accelerating the transition to a bio-based economy throughout the entire textile and apparel value chain.

A Collaborative Reference Project

be@t is promoted by a consortium that brings together companies, technological centers, and academic institutions, coordinated by CITEVE and CEiiA. More than just a project, be@t is a living laboratory where scientific knowledge and industry come together to develop solutions that replace fossil-based raw materials with biological, recyclable, and biodegradable alternatives.

Allcost’s Contribution

Allcost’s participation in the 3rd edition of the Beat by Be@t program led to an experience that combines design, science, and sustainability. In this program, designers and companies collaborate to explore new approaches to circular innovation – and it was in this spirit that Allcost joined designer Nicole Feliciano to bring a pioneering project to life.

“Participating in be@t is a natural step for Allcost, which has long invested in innovation and sustainability as drivers of its growth. We believe that bioeconomy is the path to a more responsible, competitive, and future-ready textile sector.”
— Ângela Cadeia, Commercial Director

From Idea to Material: A Thread that Rebirths

This collaboration resulted in a 100% recycled, plant-based thread reinforced with chitosan – a natural biopolymer obtained from shrimp shells. This combination is more than just a technical curiosity: it is concrete proof that waste and renewable natural resources can give rise to high-performance materials with low environmental impact and great added value.

A Fiber with Purpose

The result is a strong, innovative, and fully recyclable fiber – a concrete example of bioeconomy applied to textiles. More than just a technological breakthrough, this project reflects Allcost’s vision: showing that sustainability, creativity, and quality can coexist and inspire a new industrial model.

“Each thread created in this project represents an opportunity to rethink the future of textiles – a future where nothing is wasted and everything is transformed.”
— João Ribeiro, Quality Control

A Firm Step Toward Sustainability

Through its participation in be@t, Allcost strengthens its commitment to integrating sustainability throughout the entire value chain – from design to production. More than just an initiative, be@t represents a shared vision: that of a textile sector that values the planet as much as it values innovation. Because for Allcost, the future of textiles is not only circular – it is human, responsible, and inspiring.
